Eldridge Named National Community Health Advocate

North Shore Health Center Community Health Outreach Worker Kim Eldridge was named National Community Health Advocate for the month of July.

The honor, bestowed on a monthly basis by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) “recognizes the examples set by our most committed and dedicated advocates within the Health Center community.”

During last year’s election, Kim made it her cause to educate patients, Health Center staff, and community members not just about the importance of voting but also about the election process itself. Kim’s efforts resulted in the registration of 130 new voters and thus Kim succeeded in empowering 130 people – helping them to have a voice in the political process and reminding everyone at her center of their role and value in American democracy.

Since the election Kim’s dedication to advocacy has only increased. She has developed an advocacy program at North Shore and regularly speaks with patients and staff about how they can advocate for health issues important to them and to the community. Kim has taken a leadership role in planning and executing National Health Center Week events to highlight the services and quality care provided at North Shore in the community, media, and among opinion leaders.
