VU Appoints New Marketing and Communications Veep

Scott D. Ochander, an experienced marketing and communications strategist with a strong history of successful marketing and brand leadership has been appointed to join Valparaiso University’s senior leadership team as vice president of integrated marketing and communications in January.

Ochander will serve as the University’s chief marketing and communications officer and have overall responsibility for the strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of the University’s marketing and communication efforts. He will lead a recently consolidated unit of professional staff and is charged with building a clear and compelling brand aligned with Valpo’s vision to be renowned worldwide for preparing women and men who are highly sought for their knowledge, character, integrity and wisdom.

Ochander comes to Valpo after serving in several senior marketing and communication leadership roles with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, The Dow Chemical Company, Meredith Corporation and most recently as senior vice president of market innovation at New Edge + The Brewery, a leading innovation strategy consulting firm based in Richland, Wash., and London, England.
