Notes: Indiana National Guard Camp Expanding

Gov. Mitch Daniels will detail an an expansion of Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh today.

Daniels set a Thursday morning news conference at the base about 25 miles south of Indianapolis to announce the plan with other state and federal officials. A release on the event says the proposed plan will expand Camp Atterbury, bring economic development to central Indiana, and open a new fish and wildlife area in Putnam County in western Indiana.

Existing home sales in Fort Wayne increased 9.2% in the first quarter of 2010, and the average sale price rose about $13,000.

IndyGo, the Indianapolis bus system, is struggling to survive.

The Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City will host a national cooking event in May.

New Brew for Franklin

Craft brewer TailGate Beer will expand its national operations from San Diego to Franklin, creating up to 150 new jobs over the next three years.

The company will occupy the existing 48,000 square-foot Klaisler building located in the Franklin Business Park and invest millions in machinery, equipment and energy efficiency upgrades to ready the facility for beer production, packaging and distribution. Over time, the company plans to implement a number of environmentally friendly energy practices and seeks to achieve 100% self-sufficiency through partnerships with universities and the agriculture community.
