Two new client companies have moved into Innovation Park at Notre Dame in South Bend this month. SlipStream, LLC and RemSense, Inc., have both begun work at the Park to advance the commercial potential of their businesses.
SlipStream, LLC is working to create an ultra-efficient hybrid vehicle system that utilizes ultracapacitors as an energy buffer in vehicles, potentially enabling a dramatic reduction in fuel consumption. The company is currently testing a prototype of the new system at Innovation Park, and hopes to poise the product for commercial production with an established manufacturer in the near future.
Founded in 2008 by University of Notre Dame electrical engineering professor Dr. Peter Bauer, Hari Agarwal, President and CEO of KRA International and Jim Larkin of Lark Investments, the company ultimately aims to enable commercial vehicle distributors to convert their existing vehicle fleets to be more fuel-efficient. RemSense, Inc. is focused on creating innovative technologies for clients in the scientific, academic and tactical communities. Founded in 2008 by Dr. Scott Anderson and Gina Anderson, RemSense is working with Innovation Park to develop a web-based tool to enhance student interest in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields and to continue developing and marketing the company’s current product line of remote sensing systems. “We are excited to welcome these two pioneering companies into Innovation Park,” said Innovation Park President and CEO David Brenner. “We hope that their engagement with the Park accelerates the transition of their promising new technologies into the commercial marketplace.”
