Indianapolis-based public accounting and professional services firm Somerset CPAs is celebrating 50 years of serving clients in 2010.
Somerset’s roots began in 1960 with the founding of Whipple & Company. The firm became Somerset in 1998 and, in the next few years, merged with local certified public accounting firms McGee, Rice & Wheat and Cox & Brennan. Today Somerset is made up of approximately 120 professionals, including 23 principals.
Client service professional designations include certified public accountants, certified management accountants, certified fraud examiners, certified financial forensics, certified financial planners, certified valuation analysts, chartered financial consultants, chartered life underwriters and others.
Somerset provides accounting, assurance, business consulting, financial forensic, information solutions, litigation support, tax, valuation and wealth management services to businesses, individuals, government and not-for-profit organizations.
Somerset has industry specialized teams dedicated to Construction & Architecture/Engineering, Dealerships, Dental, Entrepreneurial, Health Care, Manufacturing and Distribution, Not for Profit and Real Estate.
Somerset’s recent distinctions include:
- Listed as the 5th largest Indianapolis-area accounting firm, based on number of local full time certified public, according to the Indianapolis Business Journal (2009).
- Named a “Best Place to Work in Indiana” by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce in 2010, 2008, 2007 and 2006 in the category of small to medium-sized companies of between 25 and 249 employees.
Pat Early is the president of Somerset CPAs. He joined Whipple & Company in 1979 and became president in 1989. Upon Whipple’s merger with The Somerset Group, he was named president of Somerset.
To honor their fiftieth year, Somerset will be hosting a reception on Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at their office at 3925 River Crossing Parkway, Indianapolis, Indiana. A tribute to long-time clients will take place.
