Local nonprofits encouraged to apply for funding
Influential Women of Northwest Indiana is extending a call to all Northwest Indiana 501(c) 3 nonprofit organizations in Lake, Porter and LaPorte County that will use the funds to benefit women/girls.
The funding is based on the following criteria:
• Name of Nonprofit
• The Nonprofit’s mission and values
• The intentions for the funds and how they will be used to empower women/girls
Please note that funds cannot be used for operational costs, only specific projects.
The 4 charities selected for the 2012 event each received $2,500. Housing Opportunities used the funds given by the Influential Women of Northwest Indiana to help cover fees that would normally be charged to provide the case management which fosters self-reliance for women in its housing program.
Visiting Nurses Association of Porter County used the funds to purchase Zoe monitors for their Telehealth program. The Telehealth program allows patients with chronic cardiac and pulmonary diseases to keep a Zoe monitor in their home.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana used the funds donated to continue providing positive after-school programs for the 12,000 youth in Lake County.
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Gary used the funds to support the facility and the needs of the women who come to it for support.
